Paper jam on HP Color Laserjet 1600 (Media: 160g/m2)

hello everybody

the manual of the clj 1600 tells me that the printer can handle paper with a weight of 160g/m2. so I bought high quality laser paper of this weight.

actually it's not a jam but the printer just can't feed the paper (take it out of tray 1) and it gives me an paper-jam error. And in the printer settings I chose "heavy paper (121 - 163g/m2).

What am I doing wrong?

thanks very much for your help.

Kind regards.

does regular paper work ok then?have you cleaned or changed your pickup roller/seperation pads at all.if they are worn some or dirty it can cause issues.they will pick up better when new.

usually tray 1 ,or what would be the priority feed slot will work better for heavier paper due to the nature of it's pickup and paper path.

dear razmat

thank you for your help.

"does regular paper work ok then?"

yes

"have you cleaned or changed your pickup roller/seperation pads at all.if they are worn some or dirty it can cause issues.they will pick up better when new."

I'll do that, though the printer has still his first set of cartridges.

kind regards
claus
