PCL XL error - IllegalAttributeValue on printing some excel files

Operating system is Vista and the printer is the Color Lazerjet 3550. Some excel files received via email cannot be printed, the printout says the following:
PCL XL error
Subsystem: KERNEL
Error: IllegalAttributeValue
Operator: VendorUnique
Position: 9
Can anyone shed some light on the problem please. I have checked and loaded the latest driver and still have the problem. Not every file emailed gives me this problem and it seems to occur only with excel files. Is the problem with the printer or excel? Many thanks!

Re: PCL XL error - IllegalAttributeValue on printing some excel files

Unfortunately your printer is a host based printer and there are some issues with the driver. Suggest you load another version of the printer and this time use the clj3600 host based driver and see if it works for the problem files. If it does use it when printing excel and use the original driver for everything else.

And just to give you some background on PCL XL errors, see Chris H's reply here:

Usually the easiest resolution is to switch to a PCL5 or Postscript driver. However with a host based printer, you're pretty much stuck with the driver component in the host based sofware. That driver component must be PCL6 or you wouldn't be getting that error.
