Re: P2015 PJL command for resetting Page count

In the example I was using, I was redirecting LPT1 to the network port I had created. I was connected to the printer with a cross over cable and had shared the driver. The path to the printer was\\computername\sharedname. I was using the net use dos command to redirect lpt1 to the share.

If you are connected with a usb, I think you can do the same thing, share the print driver then redirect or possible just use the \\computername\sharedname instead of lpt1.

The name of the file you are saving it as is not important, just make sure you can see it in your command prompt when you look at the directory of the C drive.

Re: P2015 PJL command for resetting Page count

It doesn't need to have a .pjl extension?

It could be "count2015.txt" ?

Re: P2015 PJL command for resetting Page count

Yeah, I am pretty confident, the printer doesn't care.

The 'copy' command copies the CONTENTS (not the name) of the file to the specified printer port.

So the name & extension of the file are completely irrelevant to the printer; you can call it "string.vest" if you want, as long as that name is what you use in the 'copy' command.

Re: P2015 PJL command for resetting Page count

"also this only works on the latest firmware"

There is no firmware upgrade offered by HP for the P2015

Re: P2015 PJL command for resetting Page count

Hello - Very good post - I have been on this for a while now.

Attempting to program 88,990 pages  Tried every combination I could think of.

%-12345X@PJL COMMENT PAGECOUNT

@PJL DMINFO ASCIIHEX="04000401010109080300dada"

@PJL DMINFO ASCIIHEX="04000501040102060803015b9e"

%-12345X

This was my last attempt - Based on your thoughts

Re: P2015 PJL command for resetting Page count

I've recently been playing with resetting the page count on an HP LJ M2727 printer.   I can send the file and it does change the count to whatever I would like, but then if you try to print something or print out another usage page the count immediately goes to zero...any ideas???

The commands I'm sending are as follows:

%-12345X@PJL
@PJL SET SERVICEMODE=HPBOISEID
@PJL DMINFO ASCIIHEX="04000401010109080300dada"
@PJL DMINFO ASCIIHEX="040005010401020608020319"
@PJL SET SERVICEMODE=EXIT
@PJL RESET
%-12345X
Z
E

Thanks in advance!

Re: P2015 PJL command for resetting Page count

Usage page counts are not the same as the printer total page count found on the configuration page. I can never figure out the usage page counts. Does the page count change on the config page and when you print 10 or more copies does the count change again on the config page to indicate the new count. Most times you have to run at least 10 pages to get the count to increase.

Re: P2015 PJL command for resetting Page count

I have included some photos of the config page (page 1 and 2), and then two different usage pages.  On this M2727 the total print count is not listed on the config page, therefore to get the total count you must print a usage page.  Once the file is sent (via ethernet) to the printer to change the page count, the count (793) registers.  However if you turn off the printer, or try to print to the printer from a computer, or try to print out another usage page - the count goes back to zero...I'm not sure how to get the total page count to stick.

Thanks in advance...

Re: P2015 PJL command for resetting Page count

I have built a .bat file that programs the serial and a page count with limits to a P2015. The limits being the page count must be between 4,999 and 65,500. Its a hexadecimal thing I don’t have time to figure out.

The program prompts the user for a Printer IP, Page Count and Serial and then sends it to the printer for updating. Send me a note if your interested.

My question for all is were can I find the PJL commands to set the various color page counts on color printers?

I have a need to correct these when service issues arise that can cause billing problems for my customers.

I thought I saw were someone was able to "read" a .rfu file and get some commands from that?

I searched the web, the pjl reference manual, the service manual.... no joy!

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Re: P2015 PJL command for resetting Page count

Hope this can help a few folks...

This script will send PJL commands over a Ethernet connection that will re-program the
Serial number and meter on HP 2015 printers.

Designed to set the serial and meter on the P2015 but MAY work on other models as well.

Currently can only set a meter within the range of 4,999 to 65,500. Will not return accurate
result above or below this range...  long story!

How to set up!!!

Enable LPR printing in WIN7 (not enabled by default) then set your PC up so you can PING
the target printer.

These steps will add LPR printing to Windows 7.

1. Open the Control Panel

2. Click on Programs

3. Click on Programs and Features

4. Click on Turn Windows Features On or Off (on the left side)

5. Click the plus sign to expand Print and Document Services

6. Check the box next to LPR Port Monitor

7. Check the box next to LPD Print Service

8. Click ok

Double click the Easy Writer file and follow the prompts. CLOSE WINDOW TO EXIT

                        *** DO NOT MESS WITH THE VARIABLES FILE!! ***

Let me know how it works for you....   gusterrocks@gmail.com
