New P1606 toner light on

I just set up a brand new P1606dn and inserted the starter toner cartridge (after removing the appropriate tape). The install went fine, but the toner light is blinking. I've restarted, cycled the power, pulled, shaken, and reinserted the cartridge several times, and everything else I can think of. Any ideas? Thanks!

I should have stated that the light is actually blinking, indicating that the cartridge isn't registering with the printer (bottom of http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01983557&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc...〈=en&product=4110410 ).

How did you fix the problem? I have the exact same issue. I tried changing cartridges, but light is still blinking. I have had the printer for around seven months; it is used sparingly. I could not access the link you posted; perhaps you could indicate a key word or two.
