LaserJet 500 M551 printing errors after firmware upgrade

I recently updated the firmware on the laserjet 500 M551 dn printer.  I successfully installed the firmware upgrade, but I keeping getting prints with "trash" characters on the pages.  It randomally prints this way and is not consistant.  I did not have this happen until after the upgrade.

I have updated the firmware twice in an attempt to try to clear the errors to no avail.

I have done the partial clean and full format and I still have the same errors occurring.

I tried updating to the current pcl6 driver as well.

I am using windows xp and older windows software.  This occurs in the office software and autodesk software as well.

I am willing to go back to the previous firmware upgrade if possible.  I had problems with that firmware upgrade as well (printer would refuse to print after a period of time) but I am willing to go back to it just so I can keep from wasting paper.

I attached an example of the print copies.

Switching to PCL 5 has solved the problem!  Thank you.
