Re: LaserJet 500 Color M551

Web document describes the error as such. Make sure you are plugged into a reliable power source.

The low-voltage power supply is defective.

Recommended action

Turn the product off, and then on.

Check the connector (J143) on the DC controller PCA.

If the error persists, replace the low-voltage power supply.

If it is brand new then get it replaced. Call HP for warranty assistance if you have not already.

Re: LaserJet 500 Color M551

Hello xat,

Please check if your printer is 110V or 220V. We have seen customer plugging 220V units to 110V and getting message. If that is the case and the unit is new, please return the unit to your vendor.

If the issue is not resolved I highly recommend you to call HP tech support.

Re: LaserJet 500 Color M551

I encountered same error (58.00.04) on my laserjet 600 M603 printer. I changed the low voltage power supply and DC controller but the error remained. I then decided to change the Formatter board as a last resort before losing hope on the printer and that fortunately cleared the error and the printer works fine now

A silver label in the rear of the printer indicates if it is 110V or 220V.  If your printer is 220V, replace it and make sure the replacement shows 110V.
