LaserJet 1320 Not Printing Multiple Copies Anymore

When I specify a certain number of copies (various ways), my non-networked HP LaserJet 1320 ONLY PRINTS ONE COPY and ignores my "Number of Copies" selection.

I recently reformatted my computer's hard drive and did a clean install of 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. I had never had a printing problem with this LaserJet 1320 with my 32-bit Windows XP Home installation on the same computer.

I have the following installed on my Local Disk (C:), as downloaded from the HP website:

HP LJ1160-LJ1320
HP LJ1320 PCL6 Driver
HP Universal Print Driver PCL6 x64 v5.0.1

Re: LaserJet 1320 Not Printing Multiple Copies Anymore

I am having exactly the same problem since upgrading to 32-bit Windows 7 Enterprise. Definitely seems to be a Windows 7 problem and not a 32-bit vs 64-bit problem.

Re: LaserJet 1320 Not Printing Multiple Copies Anymore

This problem is caused by Mopier Mode being enabled by default. The idea of Mopier Mode is to minimise computer and network traffic by sending only 1 copy to a printer equiped with suitable internal memory. That stored copy is then used to produce the multiple copies. Most HP Laserjets do not have suitable internal memory and so only the one copy sent by the computer gets printed. To disable Mopier Mode:
Click Start
Click Devices and Printers
Right click your Laserjet Printer
Select Printer Properties
Click the Device Settings Tab
Scroll down to the bottom
If necessary, expand Installable Options
Click on Mopier Mode
Select Disable in the selection box that appears
Click Apply
You will now get multiple copies.

Re: LaserJet 1320 Not Printing Multiple Copies Anymore

TEJEN RK thank you, thank you. I have tried every solution that has been proposed in a number of threads, but this one actually worked. I have had this problem for years (Vista and Windows 7) and now I have the answer. If I could assign points to you, I would. Thanks for solving the problem.

TEJEN RK,

AT LAST.. someone who knows what they are talking about. It worked for me today.

Thank you so much for the solution. There had been other suggestions months ago that were much less useful and clear.

Thanks again.

Re: LaserJet 1320 Not Printing Multiple Copies Anymore

Thank you very much for posting the fix. This is one of the compatibility issues I have been fighting since getting Windows 7.

HP does not seem to be supporting the 1320 anymore, so this was a great help.

Re: LaserJet 1320 Not Printing Multiple Copies Anymore

Thanks for the info .... BUT ..... Your solution worked for me in reverse.   I have a LJ1200 with the single copy problem.   I enabled mopier mode and now I get my multiple copies!   Go figure.

AWESOME!! Works like a charm!! People, this is probably the solution you're looking for. Too bad it's been a year and this isn't fixed yet. Anyways, this worked great for me on Windows 7 32 bit. (PCL 5).

What operating system are you using. If windows 7 use the universal driver.

Re: LaserJet 1320 Not Printing Multiple Copies Anymore

Kind of old but - I had this issue on a Small Business Server 2011 (Server 2008 R2), and the option was greyed out.

So, amended instructions from above:

Click Start
Click Devices and Printers
Right click your Laserjet Printer
Select Printer Properties

* Click the Change Properties button to the lower left
Click the Device Settings Tab
Scroll down to the bottom
If necessary, expand Installable Options
Click on Mopier Mode
Select Disable in the selection box that appears
Click Apply
You will now get multiple copies.

Re: LaserJet 1320 Not Printing Multiple Copies Anymore

  • Open the Devices and Printers folder
  • Right click on the Printer and select Printer Properties
  • From the Printer Properties window, select the Device Settings tab
  • Scroll down and you'll see Mopier Mode -- change from Enabled to Disabled.
  • Click OK

If that doesn't work, please select the About tab and reply with driver name and version.

Say Thanks by clicking the thumbs up icon.

Re: LaserJet 1320 Not Printing Multiple Copies Anymore

Thank you so much TEJEN RK. I have been suffering with this problem for many year, ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 and you have just solved it. All Microsoft could suggest was to re-install the drivers which was absolutely no help at all. Thank you again.

I'm also having this problem, and as above, there is no "Device Settings" option for the Laserjet 1018. Any other suggestions?

Re: LaserJet 1320 Not Printing Multiple Copies Anymore

Thanks for the solution although I am still a bit puzzled. I upgraded the memory in my LaserJet 1320 to its max of 128mb and even with that it would still only print a single copy (3 pages). Oh well I guess, my issue is solved but methinks there is a problem with the way some applications communicate with the machine. I can print multiple 3-page copies with adobe reader for instance but word just spits out one copy.
