LaserJet 1300 on network on Windows 7 64bit

Upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit clean install. The machine that has the Printer installed is XP. I can neither install the 32 bit drivers on 7 or the 64 bit drivers on XP. Was working fine when I had Vista 32bit. I've tried the driver downloads but they can't find the printer?

HELP!

Thanks

Re: LaserJet 1300 on network on Windows 7 64bit

Here is a trick that works. Pretend the printer is connected to the windows 7 computer and add it without auto detect and use lpt1 as the port and do not send a test print. After the printer is loaded go to the properties of the printer and then go to ports and change the port to a local port using the syntax \\xpcomputer\lj1300 Now substitute the computer name of the xp computer and the share name you use for the printer and it should work just fine.

Re: LaserJet 1300 on network on Windows 7 64bit

That error is coming from pcl6. See if the computer has a postscript driver for that printer or a pcl5 driver. I have not worked much with windows 7 so not sure which drivers are included with the package. If all else fails, then just move the printer for the time being to the windows 7 computer and have it find and load the printer and make sure it prints and then move it back to the xp computer and change the port on the driver it loaded automatically.

Re: LaserJet 1300 on network on Windows 7 64bit

David,

I recently upgraded my computer and had the same problem as the other guy getting my laser jet 1300 hp to work with windows 7.  I followed your instructions and it did work but...only some pdf files will print.  it's so random that I can't even pin point why some print and some don't.  Do you have any ideas on why this is??

Any help would be greatly appreciated- I am using the hp universal print driver for windows postscript x64

Thanks! Lisa
