Re: Laser Jet 3500 making very loud noise

noises can be easier to track with as many covers as possible open or removed.does it occur at all on power up?does it sound like it is in the front?top?back?one side?

some more common places for this could be one of the cartridges ,the ETB,the fuser or main drive gears,or sometimes the output assembly.if the noise was right at the top it may be the fuser or output assembly.you could disable the cartridge check from the diagnostics menu and remove one cartridge at a time and try prints.if it happens at power up also, you could try to take out the ETB and power up and initialize to see if it goes away without it in.

otherwise you could go to the diagnostic menu and run individual component tests or do a paper path test from different sources to try to narrow it down.

Re: Laser Jet 3500 making very loud noise

You should be able to put this printer into diagnostics mode and then disable cartridge check. Then remove all the toners and send a print job and see if the noise is gone. If it is then put in one toner at a time until you find the bad toner. If the noise is still present, then the issue is most likely the transfer belt or fuser.

Re: Laser Jet 3500 making very loud noise

This printer also have individual Motro testing feature. You coudl go into Diag mode and then test one Motor at a time to see if any particular motor is making the noise. Had one with that kind of noise caused by one motor. HP OEM Parts Resellers like Laser Pros International:

888-558-5277, ext 122
partsnow.com
printerworks.com
depot-america
etc should have the motors available.
