LJ2420d Firmware Hung "Downld file now RFU LOAD ERROR"

The firmware on one of our lasterjet 2420d printers was at 20041129 08.107.2. I ran via USB the 2420 firmware utility to update the firmware. It ran, but then displayed "Waiting for network to initialize," but this is not an network printer. Ever since, it is frozen with the LCD reading "Downld file now RFU LOAD ERROR," bit no matter how I try, I fail. The printer seems to no longer be listening, and since then, the buttons don't work either. Can suggestions?

I think the only way you can fix this is to use a parallel cable from the computer to the printer and read the instructions on sending the firmware upgrade from a dos prompt on the computer. It will something like copy /b 2420.rfu lpt1 Good Luck.
