PCL XL error
I receive this error only when trying to print 2180 mini avery labels in MS Word 97, every other label size and other print job is just fine.
I have the correct updated Windows XP drivers installed.
I've seen this case, but it seems to be a different problem, but I tried the fixes and it didn't resolve my problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

If your problem is repeatable at will, repeat it (with a small document), but check the 'print to file' option in the driver.
Then post the generated file here as an attachment; analysis might indicate which attribute is missing (I suspect that MediaSize is the culprit), and hence might suggest a possible resolution or workaround.
If the missing attribute IS MediaSize, this would seem to suggest that either the application, or the printer driver, does not recognise the paper size associated with those labels.

But there is also no indication of any data after the BeginPage, and before the corresponding EndPage (there are some operators setting up a dither pattern, and the clip mode, but these are not in themselves 'page marking' operations). Did your source document have any real data for these labels?
This tends to support what I suggested before; either the Application (Word97?) or the printer driver, does not support your chosen label format.
But which is at fault, or how to circumvent this, I can't say (sorry).
Anyway, attached is the analysis of your print file

I don't know why this would be a problem.

Did you install these patches that were listed for Office 97? The SR-1 has to be installed then the SR-2.

I don't think Microsoft Office does updates for 97 any more, but you can check to see if there's anything that may be listed.
Position signifies where the incorrect attribut is located and it needs to be corrected.
The following details.

I did some more testing, the problem ocurrs ONLY when i use the MINI label paper size (4 1/4" X 5") all other label paper sizes print fine. If i change the paper size to letter and keep the same label dimensions it will print fine too, albeit not on the label paper but on letter head. This seems to only have to be a problem with the printer drivers support for this paper size, it doesn't matter which computer you are on, the results are the same.

I'm not sure what else to conclude other than this must be a problem with the printer driver recognizing the label size, other printers print fine,. and this same printer printed fine prior to upgrading to Windows XP (which changes the driver obviously).

I think we can conclude that either Word, or the printer driver is at fault, but we can't determine which on the available evidence.
Attached is an analysis of your 'print to file', in case it points anyone else in the right direction.
