Hp laserjet 2100 noise

i have an hp laserjet 2100, 8 years old.
although the printing is going good (no paper jammed or double feeded etc.), it has started to make a tiresome noise (like a squeak) coming from the output tray (the output mechanism i mean).
any suggestions?
thanks in advance

Re: Hp laserjet 2100 noise

the problem is that paper dust has got between the shaft and the plastic bushes it rotates in on the delivery roller shaft.

if you remove the top cover from the printer you can get to the delivery roller shaft it clips to the printer at both ends (white plastics clips) remove it from the printer remove the white plastic parts from the ends of the shaft remember to note how they fit back on the shaft, and whipe clean the shaft at both ends and the inside surface of the white plastic parts put it all back together and you should be noise free

Re: Hp laserjet 2100 noise

This printer had an issue where the exit rollers start to sound like birds chirping. If that is your case do what the poster says above, but after removing the roller you will have access to the 4 black roller assemblies that mate with that roller. If you put a small amount of grease, vaseline or oil to the shafts of each of the four rollers it will stop the noise. Just a very very tiny amount as to much will eventually cause it to get onto the paper coming thru.
