HP LaserJet 4 Plus - Cleaning

Hello,
We have a very old HP LaserJet 4 Plus which is still being used for certain users who require printouts on different coloured papers.

In the past couple of days, a long smudgy line has appeared which suggests that a roller has something on it. Is there any way I can clean this?

I suspect someone has put a sheet of semi-used labels through, and one has come off on the roller.

Please let there be a simple way of cleaning this!!!!

Thanks

Charlotte

two things will give you this problem normaly
1. the toner cart, 2. the fuser

do a half test
print a test page from the drop down MP tray.
as the bottom edge of the page enters the printer stop the printer by opening the toner bay and remove the toner cart and look at the unfused image on the page. if its OK then its the fuser and you will have to replace it. if the image is bad then replace toner cart.
