HP 4100TN runs normally but sends out blank pages

HP 4000TN LaserJet.  Was printing fine, then stopped. When I hit print on the computer, it goes through all the sounds and mechanical gyrations it always does and sends out a piece of paper as it always does, but there's nothing on it. Doesn't the low printer cartridhe show up as reduced quality for awhile? This just stopped cold from perfect resolution to perfectly blank. Any thoughts? Appreciate your help.

Try printing a config page from the printer. Try all 3 trays.

Re: HP 4100TN runs normally but sends out blank pages

Hello, could be an empty toner, could be something blocking the laser from sending the image to the drum, or could be the laser went bad. May guess is try swapping toners first, that would be the best case.

Hope this helps....

Re: HP 4100TN runs normally but sends out blank pages

Hi,

First step is to find out if the fault is hardware. To do so print any of the printers internal pages (config page, event log etc..) If the internal prints are working ok, but blank when sending a job from the computer, then your fault is nothing to do with printer hardware.

If the printer internal prints are also coming out blank, then you have a hardware issue, so you may be looking at a faulty toner.. But could also be a failure of high volatge contacts, Transfer Roller,  laser scanner etc..

Re: HP 4100TN runs normally but sends out blank pages

If the config pages come out blank, the most likely cause is the laser/scanner shutter is stuck in the closed position. Happens is the mech that controls it breaks which is common on older printers. You can run the printer without the shutter. Remove the top cover and the black box in the center is the laser/scanner assembly. Remove it and then remove the shutter which covers the mirror in the front. Put back in and it will work just fine.
