HP 4050n - What driver to use with Windows Server 2008 R2 x64?

What drivers do you recommend for  Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 and clients Windows XP x68?

We installed Universal Printer Driver PCL 5 (version 61.111.1.9108) x64 and x86 (for clients). But we observed that with this driver we cant print some scanned PDF docs . Also we cant print correctly some A6 word docs (office 2003). Actually, A6 docs are always printed like A4 even if we in printer preferences choose A6 format.

Then we try Universal Printer Driver PS (version 61.111.1.9108) and this solve "A6 problem" but the problem with PDF remained. (problem occurs with different versions of Adobe Reader).

Re: HP 4050n - What driver to use with Windows Server 2008 R2 x64?

Though HP does not recommend it, the LaserJet 4240/4250/4350 drivers for Windows 2003 64bit work just fine (according to my tests) on Windows Server R2 x64 as a substitute for the LaserJet 4050 driver.

Note:  The driver is almost three years old.  Not likely there will ever be a newer version.  You could run into some issues by mixing print processors (not likely to do that unless you use it to forward jobs to another queue that uses a different driver).

I'd be using that driver right now, but HP advised me not to (even though I wasn't finding any problems) and recommended the UPD ... and the UPD that I ended up using (version 61.109.9.8874) is working pretty good for me.

Your UPD version is newer, and because of some issues with the newer UPD, I've not upgraded to the newer version.  Waiting for an even better newer version.
