Error 49.2FA7 on CP3505n printer

We getting an error 49.2FA7 49.2FA7 FOUT (Sch.Pr. uit en in).

After we get the power of and on the printer works good after some time we getting the same error

Is this a firmware error that asks you to shut down etc to try and clear it?

I'm getting the same error on an HP3525. Occurs during power up while in calibration. could be firmware. HP should break these codes out for people.

I managed to get round the problem probably by fluke however it got rid of the error message and the printer has worked flawlessly since. I updated the firmware and that didn't make any difference I then replaced the ram on the network board with a bigger chip at a cost of about £9.00 and it hasn't missed a beat since.

I too am experiencing this issue with a CP3505N printer, but have as yet not been able to fix it.

Here's what the Service Manual has to say on this matter:

1. Turn the printer off and then on.
2. Try printing a job from a different program. If the job prints, try printing a different file from the original program. If the message appears only with a certain program or print job, contact the software vendor for assistance.
3. If the message persists with different programs and print jobs, disconnect all of the printer cables that connect to the network or the computer.
4. Turn the printer off.
5. Remove all memory DIMMs or thirdparty DIMMs from the printer. (Do not remove the firmware DIMM in the lower slot J1).
6. Remove the printer EIO card.
7. Turn the printer on.
8. If the error does not persist, install each DIMM and EIO device one at a time. Turn the printer off and then on again after installing each device.
9. Replace DIMMs and EIO devices as necessary.
10. Reconnect all of the printer cables.
11. If the error persists, replace the firmware DIMM.
12. Replace the formatter and calibrate the printer.

I think that the service manual conflicts with some people's experience of how they solved this problem. And as far as I can see not everyone solved it in the same way. I downloaded the firmware update as recommended and then removed the dimm which if I remember was a 128 and replaced it with a 512 cost £6.oo and it has worked flawlessly since. Hi Alasdair,

I've had a look on the formatter board and the RAM slot is empty. The Service Manual makes mention of a 'Firmware DIMM' in slot J1, but does not say where this is.

I'm probably having to look at replacing the formatter. I don't think I can flash the firmware as the error occurs at boot and the printer does not complete it's start-up sequence.

Can you use the printer with a usb cable and the board removed?

No, the USB port is part of the formatter board. Perhaps you are thinking of the EIO JetDirect card?

No, it's just that I am not in front of one just now. Will it work connected to the usb cable rather than using the network cable?

The formatter board has all the connections on it -- USB, Ethernet, EIO expansion.. everything. Removing it would render the printer unusable.

As the error is occurring during boot, rather than when a job is submitted, it fails even with no connectivity cables attached.

Ok the first clue in my case was that it would work correctly using the usb connection which led me to believe it wasn't the board. Looking at an earlier post should there not be a module in the ram slot?

I think only the duplex models came with extra memory. I assume the base RAM is soldered onboard somewhere, as I can't see any other removable DIMMs.
