Error 10.92.00 Cartridges Not Engaged

I have a HP Color LaserJet 3600n and I'm receiving the following message on the control panel:
Error 10.92.00 Cartridges Not Engaged

Any thoughts?

Re: Error 10.92.00 Cartridges Not Engaged

sound like the cartridge locks may have broke. This extremely common on these models. You have to take out the toners and look for broken pieces on the toner locks on the right side.

MJS, what do the locks look like? Do you have (or is there one online) a diagram or a service manual of some sort?

the best I can come up with on this is. this link

#3 and #7
You can get into laserpros website for the complete manual if you get a login from a sales person over there.

Re: Error 10.92.00 Cartridges Not Engaged

Here is my workaround:

I broke the left lever lock while replacing the black cartridge. Symptom: the cartridge does not seat all the way, and jams in place. This is because the broken lever lock is hanging down and blocks the cartridge from going in. You'll notice the black cartridge is not seated as deeply as the color cartridges.

1. Remove the cartridge carefully.

2. Find the left lever lock. It's a piece of white plastic that you can flip up with your finger.

3. Use a pencil or other skinny object to hold the broken lever in the up position. Angle the pencil as high up as you can to make clearance for the cartridge.

4. Have someone insert the black cartridge while you hold the lever up. When it jams up against the pencil, it's time to remove the pencil. Slide the cartridge the rest of the way in.

5. Close the door. If all is well, your printer then says "Genuine HP Supplies... Ready!"

6. With luck you've postponed the repair for another cartridge lifetime.

Thank you for this! It works beautifully and simply, saving (at least for now) the hassle of fixing such a minute problem.

Re: Error 10.92.00 Cartridges Not Engaged

This workaround (holding the broken white plastic bit up with a letteropener while inserting cartridge) worked great and is a lifesaver for this old printer!

I am having the same issue (getting "10.92.00" msg) but the cartridges are brand new geniune HP product -- just got them from AMZN -- should I return them?

Re: Error 10.92.00 Cartridges Not Engaged

Did you even bother to read this post. Your error has nothing to do with the make of the toner cartridges, but is an error with the hardware of the printer. Either the cartridge locks on the left or right side are malfunctioning for one or more toners. Can be the locks or can even be the lock arm has broken so the shutters of the toners do not open.

Re: Error 10.92.00 Cartridges Not Engaged

I found a broken piece in the assembly but could not figure where it came from. Is there an assembly to buy and replace?

Re: Error 10.92.00 Cartridges Not Engaged

Open the attachment from my 2012 post above. If the piced is a small white piece, then the slide lever has broken. It is the bar that has the springs that attach to the lock levers. Just use the instructions to replace the bar. Piece will cost less than 10.00. Time to install for a novice is probably 2-3 hours.
