Error 10.92.00 Cartridges Not Engaged - Color LaserJet 3600

Wondering if anyone could provide me with information on the error message 10.92.00 Cartridges not engaged. We received this message after replacing the black ink cartridge. Wondering if this is a problem with the ink cartridge or with the printer, and how to fix it. Thank you.

More than likely the black cartridge lock has broken. See the attached for a pictures of good and bad. If yours is the bad then contact hp customer care as they have a service note for this problem and you can get it fixed for free even if out of warranty as long as you bring it to an authorized service provider. Call hp first as some providers do not know or do not want to fix it under the service note.

Bobbi - I had the same message and I too had just put in a new cartridge (black). When I looked real close at the cartridge, it is not HP. Mine says Quality Imaging Supplies, 100% recycled and guaranteed to work. When I put in my hp black cartridge there was a message which said, now configuring for original hp supplies. Now it works fine. Good Luck to you

I have installed a new HP Black Cartridge and I still get error message that states 10.92 not engaged and to close the door.  I keep getting attention message.

This is an emergency--what can I do.  Tech support is closed this has been going on for two days now.

Lets get real here.  Did you even bother to read the posts above yours.  I attached pictures to my last post and if this is your issue you need to replace the cartridge locks.  Asking for help and not reading above to identify your problem is wasting everyone's time.  If the pictures are not your problem, then post back with the exact message as there are numbers after the 10.92.

Well, maybe they're in the same boat I am.

Cartridge has been replaced and lock looks like "Good" photo. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

There are 4 locks.  1 for each color.  Make sure all 4 locks look ok per the picture.  Also this indicates the black lock located at the top.  This is on the right side, but there is also a white plasitc lock piece on the left side which should be barely visable.  If hanging down then the left side lock is broken.

All of the locks look good. However, we did notice that the door (not the outer door, but the door that locks in place over the cartridges) does not seem to be engaging. Is this a part issue or could something be in the way keeping it from engaging?

What do you mean by not engaging.  The etb (transfer belt) mounted in the front door is what ingages and the movement of the etb is what lowers the cartridge shutters as you close the door to expose the toner drum.  If the shutters are not moving when you close the door then you have a broken lever, lock slide, right RC1-6643-000CN.

I'm getting errors along the same lines, but I think I've isolated it to a couple of plastic pieces that appear damaged.  I'm attaching a pdf of pictures of the damage.  Is there anyone that can provide me with proper part numbers or recommend a correct maintenance kit?

The errors I'm getting are 10.92.00 - .03

All other innards look good in the 3600.  no bent wires, contact points for the toner chips all look good.  There is some damage on the roller film but that's another concern...

The part numbers I'm seeing on parts for the left lock levers (?) are

RC1-6640-020CN (all four ?)

RC1-6633-000CN (The three white ones ?)

RC1-7618-000CN (the black (top) lock lever ?)

Can someone confirm this for me? I'm not a fan of ordering the wrong parts...

RM1-2759-090CN (the ETB belt assembly for my other issue not covered in this forum)

I have the same problem. We just changed the black cartridge and the front print roller thing will not lock into place on the right side. I have read all of the above posts. I have checked the printer and for damage on the locks and cartridges and I don't see any broken parts. The locks on the left side move into place when I close the front roller thing. I don't see any movement of the locks on the right side but this may be normal. The left side clicks into place, no problem. The right side does not. 

The door closes fine when I take out all of the cartridges or have only the bottom on in. Once I out any of the other in, the print roller will not click into place.

Suggestions?

See the attached.  Also make sure the white tabs on the right side of each toner opening are pressed all the way to the bottom of the slot.

I found my guide rail broken. What is the part no? Where can I get a replacement? Seems to be weak spot in the printer. Does HP cover the replacement part?

I have no idea what you mean by guide rail. This printer is now old and hp does not cover any repairs under service notes anymore for this product. Below is a link to the service manual so you can look for the part you say is broken.

Thanks for the helpful instructions! ours was the problem of the broken slide lock lever toe indicated on the sheet with pictures you provided, and the part was easy to find with your part number, and it was inexpensive (under $20) so now we are back to work (printer included.)

Sincere appreciation for your solution to our 10.92.00, 10.92.01, 10.92.02, 10.92.03 errors telling us to "Open and Close the Front Door".

Hi David. Is it easy to replace the left and right lock or just bring it to an hp service center.
