Color Laserjet 2600n engine comm error

I have a Color Laserjet 2600n here that comes up with a blinking error light when it is turned on and then gives a engine comm error. It will not allow me to print or do basically much anything.
Have looked at the service manual and it tells me pretty much zero about this error.

I certainly would appreciate any inof on this problem.

Re: Color Laserjet 2600n engine comm error

Engine comm. error would probably be either the formatter or DC controller, depending on what engine comm error it is. If there's a 55 related to it at all, it's DC.

Re: Color Laserjet 2600n engine comm error

I was thinking along those lines but I was hoping to narrow it down to one or the other. I get no numbered error code so its hard to try and pin it down.
Is there any way I can check or run a diagnostic to see which it is?

Re: Color Laserjet 2600n engine comm error

It might respond to an engine test page. If it does, formatter. If not, DC.

Guys - I too am getting this error but do not know if I need a repair to the printer or not. If it is either the formatter OR the DC, doe sit need a repair?
