I have a Color LaserJet 3500 that will not print from Tray 2. Every time we try to print, it comes up 13.01.00 Jam in Tray 2. However, there is no jam in tray 2. We can print fine from the manual tray and that's how we've been printing, but we really need to resolve this issue.
I've taken the toner cartridges out and checked for small pieces of paper that could be stuck. I've checked the paper tray and everything looks normal, except that the pad in the tray seems worn, which I guess could cause this problem. I printed the event log and it shows 13.01.00 Paper feed Paper late jam.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

Most probably you need to replaced the feed roller: RM1-0731-050
Personally I always replace feed roller and separation pad as a set but many techs replace only the roller which is the main cause of the problem.

Sometimes there is a piece or scap of paper up the feed channel. You need to cut down a stiff folder to about 5 inches across and with tray 2 removed and the transfer belt and bottom 2 toners removed, stick the folder up the feed channel until it comes out the top. Usually there will be some paper that comes up with it. As to what was said above, yes it is possible the roller is worn and you can try cleaning the roller with warm soapy water to see if that helps.

I tried your folder trick, but there was nothing stuck in the feed channel. However, I did take the pickup roller out of tray 2 and cleaned it with warm soapy water and reseated it. This seems to have been the problem because I was able to print once I reseated the roller. Thanks for all the suggestions!
