Color LaserJet 2605dn, will not print

I need some help or advice how to get our Color LaserJet 2605dn to work. This printer is on a small network and IP address checks ok, however, it will not print anything, not even the demo page when set from the printer itself. Can any one help please? I have updated the firmware to the one provided by HP for this printer, but even then it will not work. Help please! Thank you in advance for any support.

First thing we need to know is what is the message on the display when you try to print a config page from the reports menu.

On the display it reads that is printing and the status light keeps blinking, but that's all that it happens. Nothing else happens!

Re: Color LaserJet 2605dn, will not print

On the back of the printer is a small hole for an engine test. See the attached. If the test works, then the formatter has issues and if it still does not print anything then you main engine board has issues.

Look at my post above. You have to replace the formatter. You have a bad part in the printer.

Re: Color LaserJet 2605dn, will not print

I did the test but nothing happened. Does this mean I have to replace the formatter? If so, where do I buy this at and how do I replace it? Thank you for your help by the way!

Re: Color LaserJet 2605dn, will not print

Formatter is the board that has the network or usb interface. Located in the back of the printer.

[ Edited ]

I have pretty much the same issue.

But.

I can print a cleaning page 1 time only after performing a factory reset from the menu.   I can also test print from the print engine using the test button on the back.

But no demo page, or any reports.  Is this still a formatter problem?  most formatter problems I have seen, you get nothing.

I just dont want to buy one and have the same problem and be stuck with the board.

Also is there a core return on boards?

Thanks,

Scott S

Re: Color LaserJet 2605dn, will not print

First of all try to print a diagnostic page from the printer itself.
Press (Left arrow ) or (Right arrow ) to select the Reports menu.
Press (Select ).
Press (Left arrow ) or (Right arrow ) to select Config report .
Press (Select ) to print the Configuration Report page.

Make sure that there should be any job pending in print queu if there is then refresh the print spooler and remove the print jobs from the print queue.

In windows operating.

Please click on the Start --> Printers(Vista), Devices and printers(win 7) or Printers and faxes(XP) according to your operating system version.

Printers window will open up.

Right click on the Laserjet printer icon and click on the Properties.

Properties window will open up.

Click on the Ports tab.

Check the port name listed there.

Hold the mouse pointer on the checked port and it should show the port name(Like printer IP address).

If it shows the printer IP address then Ok.

If it doesn't then please add a port.

In ports tab.

Click on Add a port.

Click Create a new port, and then click Standard TCP/IP Port.

Click Next to run the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard.

Enter the printer IP address in next wizard and then click on Apply and Ok..

This should resolve the issue.

If you are not able to print the report page that means there is hardware issue.

Why, what problems do you have?  I have no problems downloading the one page PDF.

Both in IE7 and firefox 8.0.

What Windows version are you using?  What browser version?

Does this link work any better?

Re: Color LaserJet 2605dn, will not print

Some users have suggested to replace the Formatter Board. Do that, but only if a "Super NVRAM initializer" procedure will not solve the problems (I have found this solution on another forum). For example, my Hp Color LaserJet 2605dn was not able to print anything else besides the cleaning page and the engine-test print page. I have run a Super NVRAM initialization and all the problems were solved.

Note: To run a Super NVRAM initialization:

1. Turn off the printer.

2. Press and hold the "Left arrow" and "Right arrow" buttons simultaneously.

3. Turn on the printer.

4. When you see the message Permanent storage init displays, release the "Left arrow" and "Right arrow" buttons.

Re: Color LaserJet 2605dn, will not print

My problem started when I updated my firmware. HP has admitted there are some problems but have not stepped up to own their mistake. If you had recently upgraded your firmware that might be the problem. I am contacted my state AG to see if they might want to get involved since HP isn't willing to make it right.
