Can't access LaserJet 1012 toolbox

I have a computer running Windows XP Pro and when I double click the hp Device and Status Alerts icon, I get IE up with http://127.0.0.1:5225/Toolbox/ToolBox.jsp for the address and "An error occurred
Try refreshing the browser screen by clicking on your browser's 'refresh' button." for a message. I called tech support, but they had no idea what was wrong. Any ideas out there?

My first guess is that the toolbox did not install when you loaded the print drivers.

Sorry, Jimmy. I checked, and the toolbox was installed. I then proceeded to try uninstalling everything and then reinstalling it again, and I checked to be sure that it was installing the toolbox. I get the same error. :(

Does this Printer use the use the Java Runtime Engine like the 1300. If it does you may want to go in and find the JRE folder and delete it after you uninstall the printer and reinstall The printer. That should refresh the JRE. Good luck Ron Silver

Sorry, guys, I tried both your ideas, and I still get the exact same thing. I am sure glad you guys are out there willing to help. I couldn't even get an HP customer service person to help me because of language issues. And I'm from Wisconsin!

Since I don't have a 1012 hooked to my system to verify.... Try going to the printer properties and see if there is a 'services' tab. Some HP's end up with one there that might do what you need.

Since you are unable to resolve this with respect to the driver or the Software. I think it is a problem with the Operating system.

It is a known fact that WINXP sp2 has some issues with printer drivers.

Sorry, Shaik, but I only have XP SP1 on this machine as it is on a large network (Well, really a small one, but they seem to think it's large) and they are afraid to update them yet.

Hi kelly.
Go to start--> Run -->type MSCONFIG -->click ok --> startup.

Check if statusclient and hpbpsttp is checked.

These are required for the toolbox to work and have to be checked.

Also use the customization utility in the CD to reinstall the toolbox.

Both of those are checked. And I tried restarting again. Still not working. :(
