3015 - How to save scan profile?

This question seems to be asked a lot on this forum - with no answer or even acknowledgment by HP!

To reproduce problem:
1. Open HP Scanning (hpqscnvw.exe)
2. Notice that Output type displayed in lower left hand corner is "millions of colors"
3. Choose Output Type > Black & White
4. Choose Scan > Scan Profile > Save
5. Exit HP Scanning and restart
6. Notice that Output type displayed in lower left hand corner is STILL "millions of colors"
7. Then notice that "help" says you can save your profile in "HP Director" (which doesn't exist)

Frustrating isn't it?
