HP Deskjet 990c printer driver

As many people know, if you're having HP printing problems in 64-bit Vista, you can almost always install another printer using the same port as your real one and use the HP Deskjet 990c printer driver (a very generic driver) included with Vista and it will work for regular print jobs 95% of the time, regardless of what model of HP printer you're actually using.

Windows 7 does not have the HP Deskjet 990c printer driver included with it. Does anyone know of another generic driver that Windows 7 does have that will work in a similar manner?

The Deskjet 990c driver is available in Windows 7 through Windows Update. See http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01874792&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=61237〈=en

I disagree. I have Windows7 and it is completely up to date and I don't have the driver. Where do I get it?

Re: HP Deskjet 990c printer driver

I have windows 7 and have the update and the new driver. It will not install. Period. I actually had the printer working for a short time, but there were two icons for it in the Devices & Printers window, so I wanted to get rid of the uneeded icon and now I cannot add anything back.

Any suggestions?
