Z3100 head strikes with 300 gsm paper

I'm getting some slight, but noticeable, head strikes when using 300gsm matte paper sheets (Moab Entrada Rag Bright 300). Haven't tested roll paper. Is there any way to customize the carriage clearance height for this printer?

Yes. From your computer you can select the profile and change it from "normal" to "thick paper". You should have HP Easy Printer Care on your system. It should have installed when you installed the printer.

Have you created an ICC profile for that paper? If not, i suggest you do.

Re: Z3100 head strikes with 300 gsm paper

Thanks, but I'm using the printer with a Mac, and the Easy Care utility seems to be only for Windows.

Switched over to roll paper, and the head strikes seem to be gone.

I have a similar problem with the Z3200 on Red River Polar Matte in Roll form. Depending on what you read the paper is 229 or 259 gsm. I have tried all of the fixes mentioned above, but with no favorable results.

Re: Z3100 head strikes with 300 gsm paper

Problem solved by reducing the amount of ink being put on the paper from 100% to 80%  This can be done in the profile for the paper.  Thanks to Drew at Red River Paper  for this suggestion.
