Windows 7 and DesignJet 755cm

Is the DesignJet 755cm compatible with Windows 7? If so, where can you get the software to download.

Re: Windows 7 and DesignJet 755cm

The XP driver works with limitations. You will have no control over custom paper size which renders ours pretty much useless.

Re: Windows 7 and DesignJet 755cm

I always create a .pdf first. The .pdf can be scaled or rotated however you want.

Re: Windows 7 and DesignJet 755cm

thanks for the quick reply Doug, I tried the pdf route, but you still get the same hp print window for settings such as landscape etc and I can only get portrait coming out of the machine that in windows xp had no problem printing landscape. A stopgap solution is to get 24" rolls and they will actually print in the same 4 min per sheet time that landscape did.

Re: Windows 7 and DesignJet 755cm

This may be a really stupid question, but I ask for your patience in advance.

I tried installing this on my machine with windows 7 Pro 64 Bit and it didn't work for my HP 755CM completely.

It may be thr printer as you will see below, but I thought I would put down everything I did... worst case it will give someone a step by step for how to install the driver.

Here is what I did:

1. unarchived the rar file. It created a folder called pl532en

2. Opened the Add a printer window and selected adding a network printer (mine is running on home wired internet though a router.

3. Windows found and I installed my HP5siMX and HP8550.

4. Windows DID NOT find and list the HP 755CM.

5. I selected "the printer that I want isn't listed"

6. I selected "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname"

7. I entered "TCP/IP Device" for the host type.

8. Under the "host or IP address" I entered the IP address (192.168.2.35)

9. after "next" I get a message saying that the computer is connecting to the printer then a "Install print driver" window comes up. It asks me to select the printer from a list or to click the box if I have a disk.

10. On the list it has my correct printer and the model I have (Hp Designjet755CM(C3198B)

11. It has an alert saying the driver is not digitally signed.

12. I selected "Next" anyway

13. The printer name in the box came up HP Designjext 755CM(C3198B) by HP - I left it unchanged.

14. I selected "Next"

15. I received a green bar saying it was installing the driver.

16 A window came up for "Print SHaring" with the default to share the printer so I left that alone and selected "Next"

17. The next window said I successfully addes the designject and if I wanted it ot be my default. I unchecked the box.

18. I selected the button to print a test page.

19. The box came up saying it was sending a test page to the printer and the green light on the printer started flashing.

20. The printer acted like it was printing... the heads went back and forth, it fed paper, did the "ink drying thing" then fed and cut the paper.

21. Unfortunately, the PAGE WAS BLANK.

I tried printing just a page from IE and it went through the same cycle... nothing printed.

Because my computer has been down I have not printed anything on this printer in over 6 months, so I am wondering if it could be a s simple as the ink cartridges.

I have no way to test that.

Has anyone had that problem or know of a way I can get the cartridges unjamed if they are clogged to see if this driver is working?

Again, thank you for your patience and I hope to hear from someone.

Re: Windows 7 and DesignJet 755cm

There is a setting on the 755CM to test the cartridges before it prints a page.

hit Previous and Enter at the same time

Hit the up arrow to Device Setup and press Enter

scroll to Cartridge Check and turn it on.

Another option:
hit Previous and Enter at the same time

Hit the up arrow to Demos and press Enter

scroll to any demo to print a test page.

Re: Windows 7 and DesignJet 755cm

Make a new folder on your desktop.  Unpack the driver to that folder on your desktop.  When the installation asks if you have a disk, point to that folder.
