SYSTEM ERROR 070100 00 AD027C-Designjet 1050c

[ Edited ]

Model No. C6074A

Replaced belt and now get "Check Printhead Path"(2) and System Error Msg 070100 00 AD027C.  Downloaded Service Manual and for this error, manual suggests that I print the service configuration.  Duh?

How can I do that if the printer is not working.  Any solutions would be appreciated.

Re: SYSTEM ERROR 070100 00 AD027C-Designjet 1050c

Hello.

I just have repaired a several 1050 and 80% give this error....

Tell me under the carriage motor have a black powder? if yes....is from the motor, the motor "brush's"....

This error is caused by lack of strength in the engine.
 As I did to solve?

 - cleaned the motor with compressed air and lubricate the engine (not put oil inside the Motor, isolates brushes ferrite)

 - Clean and lubricate the shaft as well.

This error has to do with the upper belt tension causing further slowdown in the speed of the engine, the old belt was already large.

If you prefer you can replace the motor.

Re: SYSTEM ERROR 070100 00 AD027C-Designjet 1050c

I assume this is Darrell form the other board.  If so I posted to your other thread and will repeat here.  I disagree with the poster above and the particles you may see below the motor are actually pieces of the belt that have come off as it gets bad.  Motors rarely go bad and in the over 100 of these plotter I have repaired over the years only 1 of them required a motor.  Here is my post from the other thread:

Darrell,

You are not giving us all the information we need to help you.  In this thread all mention is the error message and carriage noise.  In the business support thread you tell us you get check paper path (2) error.  Now in your last post on this thread you tell us the error message 070100 is now gone but you have check paper path (1) error.  Very, very confusing to us and if the 070100 message is gone, then my advice above means nothing since it only applies to that error.  With the path error your best course of action even though the book says the motor could be the issue, I have rarely had to replace a motor and most times there is a tight spot of something else causing the issue.  First off did you remove all the crud that had built up on the motor shaft.  Usually when the belt goes there is alot of belt material that has come off during the years and gets into the grooves of the motor shaft and can cause a bumping action which at times will cause the machine to shut the motor off and the error.  You should turn off the plotter in the rear, open the right door and move the cleaners out, open the top center cover and using the belt move the carriage from right all the way to the left and then back again.  Are there any spots which are tight or just do not feel right?  Another issue is the carriage height.  When you change the belt you are supposed to adjust the carriage height for the new belt.  HP has a special tool you need to order so you can do the adjustment correctly.  Over the years the platen on these plotters sometimes warps in one spot so it is higher in one area then the other and the height of the carriage needs to be adjusted so there is enough clearance even at the hights point of the platen.  Below is a link to the tool that you need.  Good Luck.

Hello
I think I know to distinguish between particles of rubber and ferrite ... I've noticed some plotters with this breakdown, the new belt causes too much strain on the motor shaft, not hurt it (motor) clean and lubricate, I have not changed any engine, and I written "If you prefer you can replace the motor"

That is the first thing I would do. Also you need to lube the rails when you change the belt and perform a carriage height adjustment.

Re: SYSTEM ERROR 070100 00 AD027C-Designjet 1050c

You can search You Tube but I do not think so. I would suggest google the service manual which should be available for free download as it has detailed instructions and pictures.
