HP DesignJet 500 24 Error Message 81:01

I have an HP DJ 500 24 getting the same error message 81:01. Its related to a paper jam, but I follow the correct procedures to correct and also try and align the print heads and that thru out the 81:80 error as well.

I called support from a local office as my warranty is expired from HP and no help from there.  Local office stated replacing the PC Board in device to correct problem.

Before I replace the PC Board is there anything I can do to correct problem if the PC Board is not to blame? I don't know of any other options I can try to correct the error.

Re: HP DesignJet 500 24 Error Message 81:01

The 81:01 system error is related to a problem with the paper axis movement, nothing to do with the pc board usually.

It is related to 1 of these 3 components:

- Paper Axis motor

- Drive roller encoder sensor

- Drive roller

Most probably you have a damaged drive gear or the drive roller is binding up.

Download the service manual from the link below and refer to the paper advance test.
