DesignJet 5500 PS

We just purchased the DesignJet 5500 PS and when we try to print from Illustrator 9.0 we get an error with "drop shadows". It prints a semi-transparent rectangle behind the object that we have applied the drop shadow to. Is this a postscript error or is there a setting that we have missed? Our old printer would print drop shadows perfectly so I don't think the problem is with Illustrator. Thank you in advance for any help!

Re: DesignJet 5500 PS

Hi Tricia,

Did you try another application like Photoshop or something else?

Is the built-in demo page test from inside the Printer working fine or it has problem on the output? If so, the problem might be with the Printheads. So try aligning and calibrating them first on an HP original media or HP-approved.

Try using the "HP Designjet 5500PS by HP" driver and NOT the PS3 one.

Make sure the driver is the latest from www.designjet.hp.com

Hope this helps and let us know please how it goes.

Regards,

Sa'ad

Re: DesignJet 5500 PS

Dear Sa'ad,

Selecting the "by HP" driver instead of the "PS3" driver worked perfectly! Thank you so much for solving our issue so quickly!!! Have a great day!
