DesignJet 5000 ps Need Windows 7 64bit driver

[ Edited ]

We have a DesignJet 5000ps and I am having trouble finding a Windows 7 64 bit driver. Does anyone know if another driver will will work? I currently work for a public agency so needless to say we won't be upgrading any time soon so I need to find a way to make this thing last a few more years. Any help would be appreciated.

Jeff

Best bet is if your Windows 7 has xp mode and print from that. (Pro/Ultimate/Center)

I had the same issue with our Designjet 1055. I was able to use the Vista x64 drivers and print just fine.

Yes, but 5000 does not have any Vista drivers.

Thanks Milo. It looks like that is going to be our solution. Not the best but it will work to get us through. Beats having a whole other computer lying around.

Brian are you referring to the drivers included within Windows?

Re: DesignJet 5000 ps Need Windows 7 64bit driver

Jeff,
I didn't go through windows update for those drivers. I actually downloaded the Vist (x64) drivers from HP and added them to my Windows 2003 print server. I did look and see that I had to go to windows update to get the updated list of printer drivers and then could setup that printer locally but I was trying to keep it simple for my end users.
I wonder if anyone has tried to upload the Windows 7(x)64 drivers from MS onto a 32-bit Windows 2003 print server.

Re: DesignJet 5000 ps Need Windows 7 64bit driver

On a whim I downloaded and installed the Windows 7 64bit DesignJet 5500 42 PS drivers and they seem to be working with our Designjet 5000 42 PS. So no need to print from XP mode.

Re: DesignJet 5000 ps Need Windows 7 64bit driver

Hello Everyone,

After 12+ months of searching for this solution, I can confirm that I just installed the Win7 64Bit driver from the Designjet 5500 located at http://tinyurl.com/6wtoyeg and I was able to print the test page on my Designjet 5000 60" UV.

Up until this point I was using a backup machine with Win7 32 bit just for printing on the Designjet 5000.

Regards,

Re: DesignJet 5000 ps Need Windows 7 64bit driver

Hi,

I have a laptop which has Windows 7 (Home Premium) 64bit system and I am considering buying a used HP 5000ps pinter/plotter; will I be able to print off my laptop or will I need an older computer?

Thanks!

Re: DesignJet 5000 ps Need Windows 7 64bit driver

I'm trying to solve the same problem; running a Designjet 5000 42 PS with the Windows 7 64bit Designjet 5500 42 PS drivers, but I can't seem to get the driver to recognize the plotter as compatible or vice versa.  I don't know if anyone else has run into this problem and/or knows a solution, but as I can't install any of the drivers for Windows XP or Vista I'm getting desperate.

Re: DesignJet 5000 ps Need Windows 7 64bit driver

Now I tried running the Universal driver tho I guess it doesnt work with Designjet 5000 but I noticed that as it downloaded it then ran an install after unzipping which did not happen when I tried to download the correct Windows 7(64) driver.  I think this is way my problem lies although i don't know what to do about it.

Re: DesignJet 5000 ps Need Windows 7 64bit driver

I can tell you for sure that the Designjet 5100 driver works with the 5000 on Win 7 64bit Ultimate.  Been using it for about a year now.  I believe that driver is included in Win7 when you go to add a printer.
