We have a DesignJet 5000ps and I am having trouble finding a Windows 7 64 bit driver. Does anyone know if another driver will will work? I currently work for a public agency so needless to say we won't be upgrading any time soon so I need to find a way to make this thing last a few more years. Any help would be appreciated.

I didn't go through windows update for those drivers. I actually downloaded the Vist (x64) drivers from HP and added them to my Windows 2003 print server. I did look and see that I had to go to windows update to get the updated list of printer drivers and then could setup that printer locally but I was trying to keep it simple for my end users.
I wonder if anyone has tried to upload the Windows 7(x)64 drivers from MS onto a 32-bit Windows 2003 print server.

After 12+ months of searching for this solution, I can confirm that I just installed the Win7 64Bit driver from the Designjet 5500 located at http://tinyurl.com/6wtoyeg and I was able to print the test page on my Designjet 5000 60" UV.
Up until this point I was using a backup machine with Win7 32 bit just for printing on the Designjet 5000.

I have a laptop which has Windows 7 (Home Premium) 64bit system and I am considering buying a used HP 5000ps pinter/plotter; will I be able to print off my laptop or will I need an older computer?

I'm trying to solve the same problem; running a Designjet 5000 42 PS with the Windows 7 64bit Designjet 5500 42 PS drivers, but I can't seem to get the driver to recognize the plotter as compatible or vice versa. I don't know if anyone else has run into this problem and/or knows a solution, but as I can't install any of the drivers for Windows XP or Vista I'm getting desperate.

I just was gifted a designjet 5000 uv and am trying to load a driver. I plugged it into my network and I download a zipped file for my Dell running XP which I unzip into 22 files but I don't know what to do next. Can anyone help?

Now I tried running the Universal driver tho I guess it doesnt work with Designjet 5000 but I noticed that as it downloaded it then ran an install after unzipping which did not happen when I tried to download the correct Windows 7(64) driver. I think this is way my problem lies although i don't know what to do about it.
I can tell you for sure that the Designjet 5100 driver works with the 5000 on Win 7 64bit Ultimate. Been using it for about a year now. I believe that driver is included in Win7 when you go to add a printer.
