DesignJet 3500 printhead problems

Our HP DesignJet 3500cp plotter isn't behaving.

It is giving us "roll misaligned" errors during printing, even though the paper is perfectly aligned and hasn't shifted at all. It is constantly claiming there are printhead errors despite everything we do. When it DOES print, the alignment shifts to the right aprox. 3/4 inch during printing... until of course, it has a another roll misalign error.

It seems like the printheads must be getting off-kilter and nothing we do seems to work. Any suggestions???

Re: DesignJet 3500 printhead problems

Hi Mike,

Will you please check the Spindle Assembly and the Right Roll Assembly's gears. Are they ok or worn out or even broken?

Have you cleaned the Encoder Strip with a slightly dampened lint-free cloth? Have you cleaned the slider rods with a dampened lint-free cloth too? Some times high friction and dirty Encoder Strip produce some shifting along the y-axis (Carriage axis).

Hope this helps.
