755CM Carriage Belt Replacement

I'm looking for instructions on how to replace the carriage belt on a HP DesignJet 755CM. I have the replacement belt but no instructions on how to make the switch. Any help would be great! :-)

Thank you,
Rob

Re: 755CM Carriage Belt Replacement

Hi Robert,

I'll send you 2 pictures to see the step in replacing the belt.
From steps 1-6 just follow the screws in removing the parts.
If you need an extra "photo" just let me know, but I think it's easy. Take it slow and you will make it.
Good luck fell free to ask more!

Re: 755CM Carriage Belt Replacement

In this picture you'lll se the "official" way in removing the encoder strip. But I preffer to let the encoder attach to the right "part" (avoiding the nut) and remove it only at the left side.
I mean in this picture, jump over the step 5!

Re: 755CM Carriage Belt Replacement

Thanks for all the help! I replaced the belt and ended up with only 2 extra screws when I was done!!!! :-) Was feeling good until I powered the designjet back up and now all we get is a 060309 error code after it starts its initialization. I was not able to find the code listed anywhere. Any ideas?

Re: 755CM Carriage Belt Replacement

error 060309, Problem with pen voltage control. Pen voltage control is managed by the carriage pca. Would remove all carts, check trailing cable seating and on the ends, do find some of the electrical connections on the trailing cable can come away from the plastic backing and short accross on another. Need to look very closely to find where they may have separated and crossed. Where you tidy them up a simple reseat may address the issue.
It is possible that where the short is back enough that is could have fried the carriage. Test on poiwer upwithout pens.

Re: 755CM Carriage Belt Replacement

Hi Robert,

Try reconnecting the Trailing Cable first and then read this thread please:

Let us know how it goes!

Let's not be so pesimistic...
Robert, reconect the trailing cable first. Maybe you didn't inserted correctly.

Re: 755CM Carriage Belt Replacement

It's amazing, but I'm working on the same thing.

I"m replacing the drive belt on a 755CM also. I looked at the pictures in the post, but they aren't helping.

Since my belt broke before I got inside the 755, I'm not sure how it gets back on track. I have it attached to the carrige, and wrapped around the kogs on the motor, but where does the other end of the belt loop??? I have an end piece with some kind of fork on a spring inside the end bracket, but there is no axle. Have I lost a piece??

Thanks for any help

Re: 755CM Carriage Belt Replacement

Todd,
sounds like you are missing the tensioner pulley. (round pulley with triangular hub).
Check in the cover, check on the floor, as they are spring loaded they can get thrown quite some distance. Worst case order C3195-40039 (Tensioner assembly) which will include that pulley.
Cheers
