When using the UPD PCL6 5.3 driver, printing is great on all our old junk devices, but the HP 5500 is left with options that do not exist. I am having to manually DISABLE features it incorrectly thinks it has. Has anyone run into this? I have updated the printer to latest firmware but this appears to be a problem with UPD's coding?

Update on this. The UPD driver is not correctly reading the SNMP interrogation of the device correctly. Older HP Color devices that do not contain HDD's are coming up stating that they do. After running an autodetect I have to turn off the HDD option manually.
How do I get word to HP to fix their failed detection?

Did you check the registry if UPD dtected the right printer model?
There is a key named like the printer and its value is the model of the printer
If it is not like this, you might have an SNMP issue.

I was planning to use only UPD in future and I don't see any issue here:
HP Color Laserjet 5550 (Tray 1 and 2 in WJA) Firmware:07.014.0
Device detected in said registry key as hp color LaserJet 5550
Printer auto select
Manual Feed in Tray 1

What options are showing that do not exist?
Many printers, including the LJ 5550, create a RAM disk if no hard drive is installed. Print off a Configuration Page and see if a RAM disk is present.
From the point of the printer driver, a RAM disk is the same as a physical hard drive.
