87.0002 EIO 2 error message

my hp printer is networked and i have clients printing to it. just recent i get this error message "87.0002 eio 2 error" on my display and it freezes my printer. what should i do?

Which printer, which model of Jetdirect? Print a configuraton page and check and also check the firmware revision. On the config page look at Network Statistics.

87.xxxx errors can be an indicator of a couple of things.

1- The JetDirect may be failing. Check the firmware version, and if it's not the latest revision, update it. Go to http://hp.com/go/wja_firmware for a listing of upgradeable JetDirects and their corresponding firmware images

2- The EIO bus may be failing. If there's another EIO slot, try switching the JetDirect to that slot. Also try updating the printer firmware if it is flash-updateable.
