change Hard Drive from 80 gb to 250 gb!

[ Edited ]

My model is HP RP5700 running windows 2000. It works well on an 80 GB hard drive, when l change to 250 GB HD, it cannot restore the image. I heard that the windows 2000 cannot read greater that 132 GB Hard Drive space, Is that true?

Re: change Hard Drive from 80 gb to 250 gb!

Windows 2000 original release has a limitation of 132 GB hard drives. Installing the latest Service Pack will allow Windows 2000 to use larger hard drives.

My personal recommendation is to partition larger hard drives with a C: partition smaller than 132 GB, possibly only 50 GB to contain Windows and applications with the largest part of the drive used for data.

Hope this helps.
