ab378a and ab378b

Hi,

Can anyone tell me the difference between the ab378a and the ab378b? Also is there a way to tell them apart? HP part surfer list the ab378-69101 part number for the a version and the b version as well.

Thank you
Jon

Re: ab378a and ab378b

The AB378A is not supported in some servers while the B is:
rx1620; rx2620; rx4640; rp34xx; rp44xx

I'd guess that the B is a newer (compatbile) revision which can replace the A.

Re: ab378a and ab378b

Take a look at this link
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/J6374-90063/ch01s05.html

which says :
The AB378B is an updated version of the AB378A, with support for a broader range of servers. It is backward compatible with the AB378A.

Re: ab378a and ab378b

There are several ways to tell the difference, although as pointed out, it is only relevant for certain servers.

ioscan -kf is one good way to tell. If you see AB378-60001 in the ioscan output, it means you have an AB378A. AB378-60101 in the ioscan output means you have an AB378B.

The command "fcmsutil /dev/fcdX vpd" will also show these identifiers.
