Why not to use your database server as a file server

I'm looking for a white paper that clearly explains the reasons why is not good practice to use your database server storage as a file server or document repository.

Please use plain text.

Re: Why not to use your database server as a file server

you could have confguration issues such as maybe raid 5 is best for file server but raiid 1+ 0 could have been used a possibly the better choice for drive config for database server
you might not want to tax your DB server with other genral FS over head many issues such as how big is the DB? How many users pound it concurrenly? Does your DB vendor demand a dedicated server? how critical is the DB..? .would you have the abilty to solve problems at the FS level which could cause interruption of service for DB users ??
Hers a pinch to grow an inch
