Server age

Does anyone know if HP has an interface of some sort to enter a serial number and have a report generated on a decent description of the server as it was sold, including the date...similar to Dell's service tag interface?

I'm in a consolidation project and having the ages of the servers could go a long way into getting the project approved for funding. Otherwise it would be guesswork.

Re: Server age

if you have a serial number and the pruduct number you could check with the ITRC formum

Warranty check thats mostly similiar to the Dells ST.

Re: Server age

You can make use Warranty Check but the information and h/w description will be very limited. If you get the correct serial and product numbers then you probably can find the age of the system with the mention of warranty start date. However I doubt the warranty information may not be available for some aged products depending on what HP's online database policy is.

Another option will be to contact your local HP Sales guy or HP ASE.

It would be nice to have an interface similar to Dell's service tag one. But per HP, the information is private and will not be disclosed publilcy for the same reason.

Besides Dell, I know IBM provides the similar information.

Re: Server age

Tim: That comes closer than just guessing at a servers age. At least they provide an introduction date so it would have to be somewhat after that.

The warranty check just says if it's under warranty or not, no other data given.

We get everything from a var's who have changed over the years so there is no real HP Sales rep.

Thanks all.
