ML350 - Smart Array 641 - RAID 5 - Couple Questions Please

I have a ML350 server that is going to be used strictly for user file storage. I have two 36gb hot swap scsi drives and three 300gb hot swap scsi drives. A couple questions...

In the ACU (7.50.23.0) I have the (3) 300gb drives setup as RAID 5 but the maximum size is only 572GB (558GB formatted). Is this a limitation of the card?

Also, say we start running out of space and we add another 300GB drive... Can that drive space be added to the RAID 5 array and make the partition bigger even though the partition is already created?

Thanks, I hope this all makes sense.

3 HDDs Raid 5(n+1), n=2, the usable space is less than 300gb *2. 572gb is about the same.

You can extend the space by adding another HDD. A prerequisite is that you can't run out of space. You can read the ACU user guide to check the ratio of space.

Extending the space doesn't mean extending the file system. You need the third party software to extend file system(for Windows).
