Tuning outlines

Would anyone know of some good literature concerning the 'rules' for optimum system tuning (TUNE etc.etc)?

Thanks

Re: Tuning outlines

Jonathan,

IMHO there are two good sources for guidelines. The first is "Taming the HP3000" Volume 2 by Robert Lund.
It came out several years ago, however, the concepts are still valid today. Hopefully Bob will publish a 'Taming 3". Second is the HP manual on system tools, " HP Performance Collection Software User's Manual (MPE/iX 6.0, MPE/iX 6.5, MPE/iX 7.0)". These would be my recommendations.

Another source of information you could check would be the 3000-L.

Re: Tuning outlines

Jonathan,

Bob's book can be found at www.lund.com. They also
provide a software performance product for the 3000 and 9000 boxes called SOS.

Re: Tuning outlines

Jonathan,

Although it's been a while, I just finished Jon Diercks MPE/iX System Admin. Handbook.

Chapter 19 has what you want.
You can order for www.hp.com/hpbooks.

It's discussion on performance is top flite...
