Re: where is the patch or bundle will installed when using #swinstall -s /temp/depot

In Windows, if you install applications, they will go to C:\Program Files - but drivers, patches and other OS components will go to various places under C:\Windows.

In HP-UX, /opt is a common location for packaged applications, similar to "Program Files" in Windows. But patches will go all over the system, to replace whatever necessary to fix a problem. A backup of the old files and depot installation metadata will always go to /var/adm/sw, however.

If you run swinstall in interactive mode, and view the log after the analysis phase (just before giving the final OK for installation), you'll see it lists how much disk space the patch/software is going to require in each filesystem.

If you want more details, you could view the depot contents at the file level to see where each individual file in the bundle will go:

swlist -l file -s /temp/depot
