swa - HP-UX Software Assistant Failure

[ Edited ]

When running Software this week:
/opt/swa/bin/swa report -x catalog_max_age=0

Received the following error message:

* Gathering Inventory
* Getting Catalog of Recommended Actions and Software
ERROR: Failed to read: https://ftp.itrc.hp.com/wpsl/bin/doc.pl/screen=wpslDownloadPatch/swa_c
atalog.xml.gz?PatchName=/export/patches/swa_catalog.xml.gz Message: URL cannot be
opened. sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: No trusted certificate found

======= 11/16/08 03:14:23 EST END Report on Issues and New Software failed with 1 error.

Any idea as to why this failed this time, been running without any issues before... Tried to rerun and received the same thing....

Re: swa - HP-UX Software Assistant Failure

When trying to use firefox to access that URL I get this message:
Website certified by unknown authority.

IE and IEtab had no problems.

Re: swa - HP-UX Software Assistant Failure

I am running this from the command line:

/opt/swa/bin/swa report -x catalog_max_age=0

The swa utility goes out and downloads the file automatically.... So I am not manually using firefox, or IE....

/var/opt/swa/swa.log contains following:

* Gathering Inventory
* Checking existence and age of inventory for host "odcign1"
* Inventory for host "odcign1" forced to be updated because the
"inventory_max_age" extended option is set to "0"
* Listing Filesets
* Listing Products
* Listing Bundles
* Inventory written to /root/.swa/cache/swa_inventory_763342054.xml
* Getting Catalog of Recommended Actions and Software
* Checking existence and age of local catalog file
* Local catalog file forced to be updated because the "catalog_max_age"
extended option is set to "0"
* Downloading "/root/.swa/cache/swa_catalog.xml" from the remote
location "https://ftp.itrc.hp.com/wpsl/bin/doc.pl/screen=wpslDownloadP
atch/swa_catalog.xml.gz?PatchName=/export/patches/swa_catalog.xml.gz"

Re: swa - HP-UX Software Assistant Failure

This seems to indicate a certificate problem with:

"https://ftp.itrc.hp.com/wpsl/bin/doc.pl/screen=wpslDownloadPatch/swa_c
atalog.xml.gz?PatchName=/export/patches/swa_catalog.xml.gz"

That is probably why Dennis has tried opening the site in IE & FF.

However, when I tried, I was able to open that link in both IE & FF & it prompts me to save the file fine.

Mike are you still getting the same error with the command?

Re: swa - HP-UX Software Assistant Failure

You could try the option

-x crl_check=true

with the command...

Good luck!

Re: swa - HP-UX Software Assistant Failure

If I start firefox and download the file manually I have no problem either, it's downloaded and saved to the server...

However when I run swa as mentioned above it fails... I've tried it also with the -x crl_check=true option also and it fails with the same error as before...

I used a browser to check for errors.
It seems to be working now but failed 15 minutes ago.

Re: swa - HP-UX Software Assistant Failure

Was running SwAssistant C.01.04, and since there was a newer version, I installed C.02.00 and reran swa, and it worked as normal and downloaded a new swa_catalog.xml file....

=>/opt/swa/bin/swa report -x catalog_max_age=0

Re: swa - HP-UX Software Assistant Failure

The ITRC systems that load balance the catalog and patch downloads are having some issues. If you hit a failure the next attempt may work.

Sorry for any confusion, we are actively working on the issue.
