order patch installation

Hi,

Is there a certain order in which the patch bundles (HWE1100, QPK1100 and OnlineDiag) should be installed or can you do it randomly?

Thanks,

Kurt

Re: order patch installation

Hi Kurt,

I just checked on my ignite server install.log file in the /var/opt/ignite/clients/myserver directory. Below is a part of the log file.

* Installing bundle "BUNDLE11i,r=B.11.11.0102.2" .
* Installing bundle "CDE-English,r=B.11.11" .
* Installing bundle "CMDVIEWSDM,r=A.1.04.00" .
* Installing bundle "GOLDAPPS11i,r=B.11.11.0112.6" .
* Installing bundle "GOLDBASE11i,r=B.11.11.0112.6" .
* Installing bundle "HPUXBase64,r=B.11.11" .
* Installing bundle "HPUXBaseAux,r=B.11.11.0203" .
* Installing bundle "HWEnable11i,r=B.11.11.0203.5" .

So now you can determine the order of the software installation.

Just my two cents.

Re: order patch installation

Hi Kurt,
The following order will make sure a check_patches results in a "flawless victory" afterwards :
- Installatie Support CD (installatie basis patchen)
# HPUX 11.0 HP Support Plus (5012-7900)
root/sv00220#mount /dev/cdrom /cdrom

# Installatie Diagnostic bundle (via interface)
root/sv00220#swinstall -s /cdrom/DIAGNOSTICS/B.11.00
# OnlineDiag -> B.11.00.16.09
# EMS-KRMonitor -> A.11.00.03 EMS Kernel Resource Monitor
# Sup-Tool-Mgr -> B.11.00.16.09 Support Tools Manager
# Deze laatste twee selecteer je ... en installeer je

Sup-Tool-Mgr,r=B.11.00.16.09,a=HP-UX_B.11.00_32/64,v=HP

Re: order patch installation

Generally, it doesn't matter what the order is when you are
installing the mentioned patch bundles. Your system knows
what patches have to be installed on the system and what not.

But, in order to save storage (i.e. to prevent installing
patches from one patch bundle that are superseded by other
patches from another patch bundle), I would suggest
following order: HWE1100, QPK1100, OnlineDiag.

If you plan to install HP software on your system, you must first install all the software and after that install all the patch bundles.
