Want to Package various patch depots into one depot

Hi all,

I've downloaded some HP-UX 11.11 patches required
to install Oracle 10g rel. 1. Of those patches 7 to 8
requires a reboot, I want to do the patch installation
in a single run. I've depot files of all patches.
Is it possible to package all required patch depots
into a single depot/bundle using some utility like
swpackage/swcopy? Pl help.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Want to Package various patch depots into one depot

mkdir /tmp/patches

cd /dir_where_you saved_patches
sh *
for i in PH*.depot
do
swcopy -s $i \* @ /tmp/patches
done

swlist -d @ /tmp/patches to check it.

Re: Want to Package various patch depots into one depot

When you download a patch, there is a file README_hp-ux, and inside it how to create a depot.
working with downloaded files, create a temporary folder copy the hp* to this folder, merge patch_manifest files into one, copy create_depot of any and README_hp-ux.

Hope this helps

Hi,

Change swcopy as follows

swcopy -s $i -x enforce_dependencies=false \* @ /tmp/patches

Re: Want to Package various patch depots into one depot

Hi Luk,
I tried as u mentioned, but got following errors

Could not contact host "PHCO_27958.depot". Make sure the hostname is correct and an absolute pathname is specified (beginning with "/").

I tried it not using -x flag also but gives the same error.

Re: Want to Package various patch depots into one depot

Its always better to use absolute path than relative path. It seems like, SD can't able to find depot. Try giving -s

Re: Want to Package various patch depots into one depot

Hi Luk,

Got it.

I was using only $i instead of full path name in -s flag.

Thanks a lot it worked.
