Uprading HP Unix 11.23 to 11.31

While Upgrading the OS from 11.23 to 11.31, we are getting following error message:

       * Running "postinstall" script for fileset "VRTSvxvm.VXVM-RUN".
NOTE:    Command output:
         - (Bundled) cc: error 1931: realpath() failed with 22 (Invalid
           argument)
           *** Error exit code 1
           Stop.
ERROR:   The "postinstall" script for "VRTSvxvm.VXVM-RUN" failed (exit code
         "1"). The script location was
         "/var/tmp/BAAa15322/catalog/VRTSvxvm.2/VXVM-RUN/postinstall".
ERROR:   The Install Phase has suspended.
ERROR:   Aborting the Install Phase.
NOTE:    More information may be found in the Software Manager logfile
         "/var/opt/swm/swm.log".
We had followed this recommendation of HP Vendor:

==> Moving the /etc/vx/static.d/build/bootvold.mk before the upgrade should prevent this failure from occurring(But it is not working)

Please suggest how to sove this issue.

Please use plain text.

Re: Upgrading HP-UX 11.23 to 11.31

What OS version are you on when it aborts?

What does this show: /usr/ccs/bin/cc_bundled -V

>(Bundled) cc: error 1931: realpath() failed with 22 (Invalid argument)

This seems to imply you are out of heap space.  What is your value for maxdsiz?  Do you have plenty of swap?

What is your $PATH value?

Please use plain text.

Re: Upgrading HP-UX 11.23 to 11.31

It looks like your maxdsiz and swap is fine.

That is the value of your $PATH?

You might want to look at the /var/tmp/BAAa15322/catalog/VRTSvxvm.2/VXVM-RUN/postinstall script to see what's on that line with "cc".  Is it an absolute path or just cc?

If just cc, you might want to make sure that /usr/ccs/bin is first in your $PATH.

Does it still fail if you invoke cc directly?

touch empty.c

cc -c empty.c
