nloadPatch/swa_catalog.xml.gz?PatchName=/export/patches/swa_catalog.xm
l.gz Message: URL cannot be opened.
sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed:

I receive this error when I try to get reports from Software Assistance. I calle dthe HP Support and they told me to check for network issue whitch I did there was none. I am able to ftp to the site with no problem I cannot pull in the report. Next they told me to upgrade my version to SWA C.02.50 whitch I did and I am still getting this error. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Software Assistant

while running #swa the system will be connected to HP for downloading the latest patches,

as shown in the error, your system i not connected to internet, so the software assistant has given error.

Please download the catalog info from mentioned link (in error) and upload it to /.sw folder. and run #swa again.

Re: Software Assistant

They've been having certificate problems for a while. I can't get mine to work with https either.

Run your swa command with this option added to the command line:

â x catalog_source=ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/export/patches/swa_catalog.xml.gz

That will get the SWA catalog via FTP (anonymou, I believe, so you don't need a login) rather than HTTPS and thus avoids the certificate issue.

Re: Software Assistant

Sorry for the confusion. We are working with those in charge of certificates to make sure these issues are minimized.

Re: Software Assistant

I forgot to mention another important piece of information...

The workaround of switching catalog source to direct FTP access will only work for a few more days. The ITRC is changing and starting as early as next week the catalog_source extended option will only work for locally managed copies of the catalog.

To change the default https access in the future to http access you would need to use the download_cmd option to call a script that modified the URL and called a download utility such as wget.

The new C.02.75 release of SWA will be available on http://www.hp.com/go/swa soon after the ITRC change takes place. We will be watching the forums for questions and announcing the release when published.
