Re: Glance : " ERROR : license error :The entity is not licensed."

[ Edited ]

All of my HP-UX machines have older versions of Glance, so I can't verify this, but my RHEL machines are running Glance 11 and this works on them.

To list installed licenses:

# /opt/OV/bin/oalicense -get -all

To add a license for Glance:

# /opt/OV/bin/oalicense -set -type PERMANENT "Glance Software LTU"

Re: Glance : " ERROR : license error :The entity is not licensed."

Hi there,

Unfortunately, I have the same problem.

Here is my workaround:

execute following from root account: /opt/OV/bin/oalicense -resolve. Now from root account glance will work, until you try to run it from ordinary user. Then do chmod o-rx /opt/perf/bin/glance, and give sudo permissions to other users to run glance.

To be more specific, the problem rises from scopeux:

ovpa status
Perf Agent status:
WARNING: scopeux is not active (Perf Agent data collector)

and if you do ovpa restart:

license error :The entity is not licensed.
ERROR: The Performance collection daemon
/opt/perf/bin/scopeux failed to execute.

after you do oalicense -resolve and ovpa restart:

The Perf Agent scope collector is being started.

:)

good luck.

Re: Glance : " ERROR : license error :The entity is not licensed."

Hello ,

I got the same error while installing operation agent 11 on AIX server.

and that was fix by using above method..nice

but  while installing operation agent 11 why we need to set peramanet license for "glance software LTU"??

as agent 11 is combined package.

or is there any error with HP regarding operation agent 11 on some AIX server??

Re: Glance : " ERROR : license error :The entity is not licensed."

Hi Rahul,

you are right with saying, that the Operations Agent bundle includes the Glance product as well. However this does not mean, that Glance is available for free! You need to purchase a valid Glance License in order to set and activate a permanent Glance license on a managed node!

So just because the SW is shipped inside a bundle does not mean, that you are allowed to use it, if you have not purchased a license. To evaluate the Glance Software you can run a trial period of 60 days with an EVALUATION license.

I hope this makes it more clear.

Best regards

Marc
