Using Windows 7 x64 , device manager shows drivers not installed for SM Bus Controller.
Can't see the driver on HP's site , by name anyhow unless its part of another driver.
Any ideas or solutions?
Laptop: HP G4-1164CA
Processor: AMD G6-3400M
OS: Windows 7 x64

Please click on the missing device in the device manager. Then click on the details tab. In the Properties drop down list, select the second item (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters you see there.
Hopefully those will identify the manufacturer and model of the device, and I can try and find the driver for it.

I can't pinpoint it. It is an AMD SM bus controller.
I would need your complete model number (it is a G4-something) in order to see if there is some kind of AMD chipset driver that is missing.
Did you install the latest graphics driver for your notebook? I take it you have the Mobility Radeon HD video?

Its a HP G4-1164CA model with the AMD A6-3400M CPU and Radeon HD 6520G graphics.
I just installed the windows update AMD graphics driver, not the one from HP's site.
I noticed the AMD Control Panel did not install with the windows update version,
but that is fine to me, trying to keep installed programs etc to a minimum.
Do you think the SM Bus Driver may be included with HP's version of the graphics driver?
I looked at another G4 same model,
it has a AMD SMBus and AMD IO Driver under System devices
that I dont have, if that helps at all.

I saw your post in the consumer forum.
My advice is to install the latest driver from the AMD site. You can elect to install the latest driver only instead of the driver and CCC. I am thinking there is more to that driver than the native one that WU provides.
Use the drop down menu to select the driver for your notebook.

I found a SM Bus driver for a lenovo model with the same cpu,
but to my surprise when I installed it, the full graphics Vision control center also installed.
All is well now. Thanks again.

Try the AMD chipset driver (first download listed).
