LCD turning red on low brightness

Ok this one is really bothering me. My 2 year old Pavilion N5420L's lcd gets a red tint starting from the lower corners and then gradually covers the whole screen when I turn the brightness down to a setting other than max. Does this mean the LCD is going? Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: LCD turning red on low brightness

Chris, that is a common symptom of a failing backlight. I owned a Thinkpad 600 a couple years back (they are notorious for developing this issue) that ran for over a year with a red screen at startup that gradually went away as it warmed up. I sold it so for all I know it is still doing that somewhere.
