System Fan Failed

I just bought a hp pavilion about 6 months ago and just recently the computer won't turn on. It says "System Fan failed, Have serviced immediately, System will power down in 5 seconds." This computer is practically brand new, and before I spent MORE money servicing it I need some advice. Is there anything I can do on my own without having to send the computer in??

Hi Carrie,

For a 6 months old, first-hand HP, consider demanding the warranty that goes with your PC to the reseller and/or the manufacturer!

For a second-hand PC purchased from an individual owner you may have to negociate some kind of participation from his/her side.

This said, should the CPU be still OK, I guess you may consider replacing the fan for the fair price you can afford.

Frustrations surmounted are paving the way to expertise.
